The story behind the Woodenways shoot

posted under News on 19 Oct 2009

imageThe old saying “a picture tells a thousand words” was taken to heart in the planning of the new look Woodenways site and image. The unique new look and feel of Woodenways derives itself from the creative shoot done in the immediate surrounds of the Mpumalanga town of Bethal. The concept behind the shoot was simple by design: “Capturing the unique essence of the surrounds yet still focussing on the furniture” The result was some very strong images with a definitive link between the furniture and the selected surrounds. Each set was done in the time of day you would spend in the surrounds of the furniture in question.

Extreme conditions makes the bedroom shoot worth mentioning. The shoot was done in sub zero temperatures on an early winter morning. The mercury dropped to a staggering minus 8 and even froze the fog on the branches of the willows making for a fairy tale landscape. The formality of business and the fixed rules are represented by the lines of the cut maize and contour lines of the field where the office furniture was shot.

Keep an eye on the site as the next shoot has already been scheduled and is bound to be as visually enticing as this one
